Questionnée lors de son passage à Charleston, Martina Hingis nous dévoile une partie des raisons de son forfait et du futur. Extrait en version original :
Q. : Could you have played if you brought your racket?MARTINA HINGIS : Well, I haven't hit too many balls since Miami, so I don't think I could really survive playing today. You know, it's very unfortunate, but I would love to come and play, and at least I'm here today, right now.
Q. : Will she play in Charleston in 2008?MARTINA HINGIS : I hope so. I mean I don't know. It's a long way to go. We're here today right now and Charleston next year, you know, a lot of things are changing like the Roadmap and everything. So I mean that's in 2009 or 10, but until then, right now, I'm thinking about getting healthy, trying to play - to train and play in the next tournaments. Who knows what will happen next year. Hopefully I'll be back, yes.
De plus, la Suissesse semble avoir confirmée son programme de Roland Garros qui devrait bien être le tournoi de Berlin puis de Rome avant Paris.
